The day of our departure for Kenya has come. Co-Leader Ariel reminded me that the busyness of preparation is over. We now must be in a state of pure devotion and service to God. Our verse for today is Psalm 51:10-Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
It feels to me like a night at the orchestra. On the night of a performance people with different talents and different instruments converging from various areas to join and make beautiful music together. And although we aren’t going to “perform”, but rather “serve”, I know we will be on stage in a sense. Yet we fully trust God that something magnificent is in store for us.
Just as the support system for the players has been behind the scene encouraging, trying to make it easier for the performers, and taking care of other tasks so that the performers can focus, we thank all of our support systems and prayer warriors (and I don’t use this term slangly) for being a part of this trip. We know that God sees you and accounts for your prayers as if you were traveling with us.
But David said, “No, my brothers! Don’t be selfish with what the LORD has given us. He has kept us safe and helped us defeat the band of raiders that attacked us. Who will listen when you talk like this? We share and share alike—those who go to battle and those who guard the equipment.” -1 Samuel 30:23-24
